Adversary a novel cybersecurity platform
The EU financed project offers interactive Security training to avoid costly data breaches before they occur.
The Adversary project started development in November 2018 and received financing from the EU (H2020). By 2019 the project was concluded. However, according to Project coordinator and CEO of the Adversary Platform, Steindór Guðmundsson “In our minds, the project isn’t really finished at all – it’s just a stepping stone to a much larger project”.
The project is driven by the primary reason behind cyberattacks: vulnerabilities in production systems. As most companies have a reactive attitude towards attacks, vulnerabilities are often only only fixed after the systems have been developed. Inspired by this problem Adversary offers “a novel cybersecurity platform to help companies minimise vulnerabilities from the onset of development”. Therefore, the main target group of the platform are developers and their managers.

The project
The Platform provides constantly updated exercises and information on current Security issues. The Users can take on the role of the hacker in “real-world scenarios” to stay up to date with new threats and attacks, helping to reduce security risks. Through this users gain an understanding of how code breaks and how attacks can be prevented. Further, users can access interactive security training aided by a guide, hint system and scoreboards. Additionally, the platform aims to create a engaging environment via gamification to support the learning process.
Moreover, users can:
- continuously advance to more difficult and up to date scenarios
- engage customized campaigns
- compete with colleagues
- access preferred programming language
The platform also enables supervisors to track the performance of their team and individual members, create custom scenarios and get access to a customer success coach.
